Daylight Savings Time changes implemented in 2007 could affect GroupWise appointments scheduled between (3/11/07 - 4/1/07) and (10/28/07 - 11/4/07).

Daylight Savings Time (DST) is changing in 2007 to comply with a provision in the Energy Policy Act (EPAct) of 2005 affecting all U.S. time zones that observe DST.  As a result, changes were made to DST parameters within the GroupWise application and servers.  In addition to this, Microsoft released a DST update file that must be installed on workstations using GroupWise.  Click here for more information on the Microsoft update.

If you have not yet received the Microsoft workstation update file, please contact your LAN Administrator.  This update should be applied before you schedule any more appointments during the affected time periods.  Customers supported by Desktop Computing Services have already received the update via an automated update.

Double-check appointments scheduled during the time periods of (3/11/07 to 4/1/07) and (10/28/07 to 11/4/07).  Any incorrect appointment times must be manually changed.

Change your Work Schedule Start and End Time by following the following procedure:

1.        In the GroupWise client Choose Tools | Options | Date and Time...

2.        Change the Work Schedule - Start time and End time values to something different

3.        Click OK

4.        Choose Date and Time... again

5.        Set the Start time and End time values back to the original or desired values

6.        Click OK

7.        Click Close

Microsoft has not released a DST update file for the Windows 2000 operating system.  If you are still using Windows 2000, a method exists to make these changes manually.  It is strongly recommended that you contact your LAN Administrator before making these changes.  Information on how to do this can be found here.

Click Here to download the Microsoft DST update for Windows XP systems.  Note:  The recommended installation method is to work with your LAN Support group.

How can I tell if I have the Windows update file?

I have the Microsoft DST software patch installed but appointments still don't look right.  What else can I do?

Make sure you workstation is in the correct time zone and automatically adjusts for DST.  Click Control Panel, Click on the Time Zone Tab, make sure time zone is correct:  (GMT-05:00) Eastern Time (US & Canada) and make sure there is a check mark in the box for "Automatically adjust clock for daylight saving changes".

Why is DST being extended by 4 weeks?

This change complies with a provision in the Energy Policy Act (EPAct) of 2005 affecting all U.S. time zones that observe DST. The bill amends the Uniform Time Act of 1966 by changing the start and end dates of daylight saving time starting in 2007. Clocks will be set ahead one hour on the second Sunday of March instead of the current first Sunday of April. Clocks will be set back one hour on the first Sunday in November, rather than the last Sunday of October.
