Enterprise Messaging & Collaboration Hosted Groupware Support What is Hosted Groupware Support?Groupware is a term used to describe technologies that enable a collection of people to work together on a common task in a coordinated fashion. Groupware systems are designed to offer much more than just basic email. Groupware encompasses sharing of calendars and other resources beyond email. Enterprise Messaging hosts GroupWise & Exchange email accounts for customers throughout the Johns Hopkins Institutions. Hosted email services are available to departments that are able to support desktop computers and provide GroupWise/Outlook client assistance and training for their clients. Departments that use this service are responsible for software installation, desktop computer support, end-user interaction. In addition, departmental IT staff must be able to troubleshoot client-side issues with GroupWise, as well as provide end users with orientations and ongoing information on how to use the system. For departments that have specialized IT staff, or no IT staff, other options are available that can provide a comprehensive desktop and LAN management services. Costs Core Services: $60 per mailbox per year (include hardware/software and can be paid monthly at $5 per email account per month). Licensing: $9 per mailbox per year (adjusted annually for all customers based on changes in licensing costs and number of mailboxes in the system)

- Enterprise Messaging uses HP and Dell servers with redundant disks, housed in a secure data centers and backed up each night using dedicated backup servers
- 24x7 Monitoring, Mail Flow Management and Monitoring
- Third level support for advanced technical problems.
- Server Management
- Includes operating systems upgrades, patches, directory services maintenance
- Backup & Restore (mailboxes restores performed for systems failures or large scale message database issues).
- GroupWise/Exchange Database Management
- Daily/Weekly consistency checks/fixes
- 180-day expire/reduce (other mailbox management strategies are available and can be discussed and needed).
- Browser-based access to email via (http://webmail.jhmi.edu)
- Support for Blackberry and Windows Mobile-based PDA devices (subject to separate charges)
- POPs/IMAPs services
- Account Management
- Mailbox adds/changes/deletes
- Demographic updates
- System distribution list creation and initial population (list owners assume responsibility after initial setup)
- Resource creation and management
- 36 hour account creation turnaround
- 4 hour password reset time (for generic and utility accounts, customer accounts synchronized with JHED)
- User account moves (take place every Friday once the move is coordinated with LAN support contacts.
- Help with email aliases
